So, let’s get started!

Materials required:

Cloth Face Mask Sewing Tutorial Materials
  • Cotton cloth
  • Elastic
  • Needle & Thread
  • Plate

Instructions:

Watch video tutorial on how to make face mask at home.

  1. Take a cotton cloth and lay flat on a plain surface.
  2. Use a round plate to cut out a circle from the fabric.
  3. Fold the circle into half and then fold once again to make a quadrant.
  4. Now cut out 4 equal parts from the circular cloth.
  5. Make pairs of the cutouts with the front side of each piece facing inwards.
  6. Sew the quadrant pairs along the curved edge as shown in the picture below.
  7. Once done, flip the sewn cloth pieces to get a fabric face mask like structure.
  8. Place these two DIY cloth mask pieces on top of each other with the front side of fabric facing inwards.
  9. Now start sewing the face mask along the edges. Make sure to leave a space of about 1 inch on one of the corners.
  10. Once done stitching, flip the mask inside out, which will hide all the extra cloth around the edges.
  11. Iron the cloth face mask to reinforce the creases and get a clean and finished look.
  12. Now, take two bands of elastic and create loops out of them.
  13. Sew the elastic loops on each corner of the mask as shown in the picture.
